The University of Kentucky cross country team placed seven runners in the top ten at the WKU Oldtimer’s Classic on Saturday, Sept. 20, in Bowling Green, Ky. For the men, Thomas Morgan and John Richardson placed in a five-mile run while five women crossed the finish line in the top ten for the women.
The women’s team was paced by senior Brooke Patterson, as she led the Cats and finished second on the overall standings. Patterson, who ran a 6k in 22:26.08, was followed by teammates Leah Kerstetter (22:44.29), Allison Grace (22:47.95), Candace Leep (23:44.95) and Emily King (23:56.89). Patterson finished behind Bonita Paul of WKU, who came in with a time of 22.22.28.
Morgan paced the men with a time of 24:51.32. Richardson followed closely behind in ninth in the meet, which was only scored individually, with a time of 25:57.72. Senior All-SEC performers Hunter Spencer and Caitlin Phillips did not compete in the meet.
The Cats return to action on Oct. 4 when they head to Louisville, Ky., for the Louisville Invitational.
