The Kentucky women’s golf team opens its fall schedule on Monday, Sept. 15 with a trip to Hanahan, S.C. for the Cougar Fall Classic at Yeamans Hall Golf Club. The two-day tournament, hosted by the College of Charleston, will tee-off at 8:25 a.m. on Monday with a ceremonial first tee shot from Jenny Sanford, wife of S.C. Governor Mark Sanford.
The Cats are led by senior Eva Gessner, who opened the 2002 fall season with an impressive tie for sixth place in the Lady Kat Invitational hosted by UK. The native of Alzenau, Germany, also put on an impressive showing as a junior in the Florida Lady Gator Invitational, where she led the Cats with a three-round total of 228 and a tie for 26th place.
The tournament can be caught live on webcast through the College of Charleston website, www.cougars.cofc.edu, and live hole-by-hole scoring will be available at www.golfstatlive.com. All rounds will be shotgun starts, with two 18-hole rounds being played on Monday and a concluding 18-hole round Tuesday.
