It rained like Cats and Cards. Weather delay from 6:39 to 8:02, a delay of one hour and 23 minutes. This is the second time that the Kentucky-Louisville game has been delayed because of weather. The 2000 game was delayed during the third quarter.

Kentucky now leads the all-time series 10-6.

First-time starters were free safety Muhammad Abdullah, cornerback Earven Flowers, and all four linebackers – Deion Holts, Raymond Fontaine, Justin Haydock and Dustin Williams. On offense, wide receivers Glenn Holt and Keenan Burton got their first start along with tailback Draak Davis.

With his 31 passes tonight, Jared Lorenzen has now broken the UK career record for pass attempts. The old record was 1,184 attempts by Tim Couch (1996-98). Lorenzen now has 1,209 career attempts.

Lorenzen’s 236 passing yards move him within 66 yards of Couch’s career record of 8,435. Lorenzen now has 8,369 career passing yards.

Louisville’s fourth-quarter interception of Lorenzen was just the third he’s thrown in his last eight games (219 attempts).

Sophomore free safety Muhammad Abdullah recorded his first career interception in the second quarter.

Junior defensive end Vincent “Sweet Pea” Burns had a sack on the final play of the first half, extending his streak of seven consecutive games with at least one tackle for loss.

Tailback Draak Davis scored his first touchdown as a Wildcat.

Tonight’s attendance of 70,467 is the eighth-largest in Commonwealth Stadium history and the ninth in school history over 70,000.

Freshman WR Keenan Burton’s 31-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter was his first career catch.
