Lorenzen, Burns Elected Captains: Quarterback Jared Lorenzen and defensive end Vincent “Sweet Pea” Burns have been elected captains for the 2003 Kentucky football team.
“Jared has been through a lot during his time here and has shown leadership on and off the field,” Coach Rich Brooks said. “‘Sweet Pea’ has shown his leadership through effort on the field and by not being afraid to speak up when something needs to be said.”
Lorenzen is in his second season as team captain. Coach Brooks also noted that two game captains will join Lorenzen and Burns each week.
Season Ticket Sale Climbs to Third-Highest in School History: The Kentucky football season-ticket sales drive has reached 46,124 public tickets sold, the third-highest total in school history, and has moved well past last year’s mark of 43,116 public season tickets.
Record Number of Student Season Tickets Sold: University of Kentucky students have purchased 2,309 season tickets so far, shattering the school record for student season-ticket sales.
This is the fourth year that UK students have had the opportunity to purchase season tickets. The previous record was 1,331 student season tickets for the 2000 season.
