Oakmont, Penn. –

Matt Kohn, a sophomore golfer at the University of Kentucky, was defeated by David Oh in the third round of the U.S. Amateur Championship on Thursday afternoon by a score of 6 and 5.

Kohn and Oh split the first four holes and the match was all square going into the fifth, but Oh won three consecutive holes to take a three-hole lead. After the two halved the eighth and ninth holes, Oh took the 10th to go up by four. Oh went five up by winning the 12th and took the 13th to eliminate Kohn from the match.

Kohn had advanced to the third round earlier on Thursday by defeating Nate Lashley, 1-up. With the defeat both UK golfers entered in the Championship were eliminated as Kohn’s teammate John Holmes fell victim to Michael McDermott in the second round on Thursday morning.
