Warren Lipka, the head coach of the University of Kentucky women’s soccer program, has rejoined the U.S. Under-19 Women’s National Team for a tour of Europe which includes matches against Germany and Holland. Lipka again will serve as assistant coach in charge of training the goalkeepers under head coach Tracey Leone.

In the spring, Lipka traveled to Mexico and helped the team prepare for a pair of matches against that country’s national team. The U.S. team is currently in preparation for the Under-19 World Cup, to be held in 2004.

“I am very excited to have been asked to return on tour with this team as they continue to prepare for the 2004 World Cup,” Lipka said. “This is another excellent opportunity for me to learn from the best coaches in the country, while having a chance to teach the best athletes.”

Shortly after returning from Germany and Holland, Lipka will embark upon another European excursion when he joins the U.S. Under-21 Women’s National Team in Denmark for the annual Nordic Cup, widely regarded as the age group’s premier international competition. Lipka will serve as the goalkeeper trainer for the U-21 team alongside head coach Chris Petrucelli. The American side will be looking to defend its Nordic Cup championship from a year ago, when the tournament was held in Finland.

Upon his return to the States at the end of July, Lipka will resume his duties at Kentucky as women’s head coach and summer camp director. The Wildcats begin their fall schedule the weekend of Aug. 22-24 with a pair of exhibition matches against Cincinnati and Ohio State at the IPFW Soccer Showcase. UK Soccer Camp will conclude with a day session that runs from July 28 through August 1.
