LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky track and field teams will split squads this weekend, April 24-26, with one group attending the Louisville Cardinal Invitational in Louisville, Ky., on Friday, April 25, and the rest of the group traveling to Philadelphia, Pa., for the prestigious Penn Relays, Thursday through Saturday.

The group traveling to Louisville’s Cardinal Field for the Friday event includes hammer thrower Nicole Allyn, who set a new school record in the event at last weekend’s Mt. SAC Relays. The day gets underway with Allyn in the hammer at 1 p.m., and runs through the women’s 5,000 meters at 9:45 p.m.

Eighteen student-athletes will travel north for the 109th running of the Penn Relay Carnival at Franklin Field over the weekend. Kentucky opens action on Thursday with Olubusola Adeagbo competing in the 400-meter hurdles at 10 a.m. The UK women’s team will compete in the 4 x 100-meter relay heats later that morning and the distance medley relay championship late in the afternoon. The women’s relay teams wrap up the afternoon with the 4 x 400-meter run at 5:10 p.m. Senior Simidele Adeagbo also competes in the long jump at 4 p.m. Thursday.

On Friday, the women will again open competition with the 4 x 1,500-meter relay at 12:50 p.m., while the men will compete for the first time in the distance medley championship at 3:30 p.m. In field events action Friday, Simidele Adeagbo will compete for the triple jump title at 12:30 p.m.

Saturday begins with the men’s 4 x mile championship at 12:30 p.m. The women will run for the 4 x 800-meter relay title at 1:10 p.m. At 2:25 p.m., the women will run the 4 x 200-meter race, while the men will compete in the 4 x 800-meter run at 4 p.m.
