Women's Soccer

April 21, 2003

The University of Kentucky women’s soccer program and Coach Warren Lipka announced the signing of another in-state prospect to the team’s 2003 fall roster. Sheena Ferguson of Russell High School in Russell, Ky., became the fourth member of the UK women’s soccer Class of 2007 when she signed with the Cats this spring.

Ferguson holds the all-time Kentucky High School Athletics Association record for career goals (189). Her marks of 78 goals in 2002 and 56 goals in 2000 are the first and second all-time single-season tallies. Ferguson scored six or more goals in seven games during her four years at Russell, including a 13-goal performance against West Carter in August.

“We’re excited to have another in-state player join the program,” Lipka said. “She will come in and contribute to us in the attacking area of the field.”
