RICHMOND, Ky. – The University of Kentucky track and field teams took home two first-place finishes from the Eastern Kentucky Classic in Richmond, Ky., on Friday, April 18. Kristen Mowrey won the women’s high jump with a leap of 5-05.00, while Liz Kittredge won the pole vault with a mark of 11-09.00, a personal best. Chris Millisor’s time of 4:00.74 earned him event titlist honors in the 1,500 meters for the men. Wrapping up the event winners was Tony Tzouanakis, who won the shot put with a distance of 50-10.50.
Susanne Funken was second in the high jump also with a leap of 5-05.00, but lost the jump-off to Mowrey. Mowrey had a third-place showing in the javelin as well, throwing for 116-06.00.
In spring action, Kentucky took third and fourth in the women’s 100 meters with Talonda Ingram posting a time of 12.18 and Kenya Patton crossing the line in 12.25. In the 200 meters, Takia Brooks was third with a time of 24.57, while Ingram finished fourth in 24.80. Twin sisters Kendra and Kenya Patton tied for sixth place with a mark of 25.22. Elmetta Johnson wrapped up the Wildcat runners in the event in 10th place with a time of 26.06.
Brooks and Kenya Patton took second and third, respectively, in the 400-meter dash, with times of 56.13 and 58.14. In the 100-meter hurdles, Olubusola Adeagbo was third (14.37), while Johnson was fourth (14.51). Adeagbo also took second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.09.
In the men’s 200 meters, Tom Masthay led the Cats with a time of 22.63, good for 11th place. Vladimir Silverio was eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 51.31. Tony TzouanakisBen Brewster wrapped up UK’s competitors with a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.84.
