WALNUT, Calif. – The University of Kentucky track and field have enjoyed a strong showing at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., through two days of competition. The Cats enjoyed four top-10 sectional finishes in the men’s 800 meters on Friday, April 18, including a fourth-place showing by Jean Balan.
Patton Segraves and Paul Ciurlys each took home fifth place in their sectional of the 800 meters, while Chad Johnson was eighth with a time of 1:48.23. Kris Landers also competed in the event with a solid time of 1:48.85, a season best for the freshman.
In the women’s 1,500-meter sectionals, the Cats claimed three top-five times including Roseline Addo’s first-place time of 4:28.50. Leah Kerstetter was third in her section with a time of 4:32.00 while Betih Heimann posted a time of 4:24.30. Brooke Patterson had the best time by a Wildcat on the season with a personal best 4:21.90.
In men’s 1,500-meter action, Hunter Spencer led the back with a time of 3:40.91, while David Freeman was close with a 3:42.50 showing. Justin Amason had a time of 3:45.90 in the event.
The solid distance times come on the heels of a ninth-place showing by Allison Grace in the 5,000 meters on Thursday. Her time came in at 16:45.00. Thomas Morgan finished in the same event for the men, crossing the line at 13:50.00.
The Wildcats will wrap up competition on Saturday evening.
