The University of Kentucky women’s golf team hits the road once again this week for the 31st Annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga. The Cats begin competition Friday at 9 a.m. at the par-72, 6,104-yard University of Georgia Golf Course. UK will compete in the three-day event against 16 other teams, eight of which represent the Southeastern Conference.

The tournament is named after the former UGA women’s golf coach and athletics administrator. In last year’s event, Kentucky finished 17th in the 18-team field.

Kentucky is looking to build momentum toward this month’s SEC Championships in Lexington after a sixth-place finish in the Cats’ previous outing last month at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Hawaii. Senior Rachel Lester led four UK top-50 finishers by shooting 12-over par to finish in 12th place.
