The 12th-ranked University of Kentucky men’s tennis team (15-7, 5-2) will wrap up its weekend road swing Sunday when the Wildcats take on 20th-ranked LSU (9-6, 2-5) in Baton Rouge, La. The match is set for 2 p.m. ET at W.T. Robinson Tennis Stadium.
The Tigers feature 38th-ranked Peter Richman along with the 13th-ranked doubles tandem of Bryan Fisher and Jason Hazley. LSU is looking to bounce back from a 5-2 loss to No. 8 Vanderbilt Friday in Baton Rouge.
Kentucky enters Sunday’s match having won four consecutive matches, two of which came over ranked opponents. The Cats are looking to build from perhaps their most impressive performance of the season, a 7-0 shutout of No. 26 Arkansas Friday afternoon in Fayetteville. The dominant showing extended Kentucky’s unbeaten streak in singles play to sixteen.
UK will look to the junior trio of Karim Benmansour, Matt Emery and Rahim Esmail for success Sunday. Benmansour and Esmail have won four consecutive singles matches, and Esmail has teamed with sophomore Jesse Witten to take four consecutive doubles victories. Emery also has come on strong of late, winning three straight singles matches.
