Final Stats

The University of Kentucky men’s golf team battled cold and rainy conditions on Saturday, March 29 to stand in second place after two rounds of the 15-team Johnny Owens Invitational being played at the par-72 University Club of Kentucky in Lexington. The Cats posted a two-round total of 599 and are just two strokes behind leader Vanderbilt. Indiana, Miami (Ohio), Eastern Kentucky and Arkansas-Little Rock round out the top five.

Brandon Waldrop leads UK with a two-round 146 (+2), putting him in a tie with Notre Dame’s Scott Gustafson. Both men are one stroke behind leader Heath Peters of Indiana. Kentucky’s Ryan Coyne found himself in sixth after the first two rounds with a 6-over par total of 148. Last year’s winner, UK’s John Holmes, is six strokes off the pace with a two-round 151 leaving him tied for 20th.

Other Cats playing in the field are Jack Hudson, Andy Dustman, Tyler Wilson, Matt Kohn and Mark Blakefield. Hudson, Dustman and Wilson are playing as individuals. Hudson is in 30sths place with a 12-over 154, while Dustman and Wilson are tied at 43rd, each with a two-round 158. Kohn is in 34th with a 155 and Blakefield is tied for 67th after a two-round 162.

The third and final round will begin at 8 a.m. ET on Sunday, March 30.
