The University of Kentucky softball team looks for its first SEC win as they play host to Ole Miss in a weekend series, March 15-16, at the UK Softball Complex. The Saturday doubleheader and the game on Sunday are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET both days.
The Wildcats (8-13, 0-3) are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Morehead State, having outscored the Eagles 19-1 in the two games. The Rebels (9-13, 1-2) opened their SEC schedule this week in Fayetteville where they took one of three from Arkansas.
Seniors Nikki Jones and Lyndsey Angus continue to lead the Cats. Angus is batting .315 while Jones has a .388 average and has compiled an 11-game hitting streak. Freshman Amy Kendall earned her fifth victory of the season on Wednesday against Morehead with her first career shutout. Sophomore transfer Bobbi Darretta pitched her first game as a Wildcat, getting the win in the second game of the doubleheader.
Sophomore DeDe Justice leads Ole Miss with 26 hits, 19 RBIs and a .406 batting average. On the mound, senior Lindsay Price has racked up a 6-5 record and a 1.84 ERA. Coach Candi Letts is in her fifth season at the helm of the Rebels and holds an 89-147 record there.
Ole Miss leads the all-time series with Kentucky 13-3. Last year, the Rebels swept UK in Oxford. The Cats won two out of three the previous season in Lexington.
Live Gametracker stats will be available for all three games on the schedule page.
