Gainesville, Fla. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team finished 11th in the Gator Invitational at Florida’s University Golf Course in Gainesville on Sunday, Feb. 9 with a score of 901.
Sophomore John Holmes led the Cats in scoring with a three-round 217 (+7), to finish in sixth place individually, seven strokes behind Augusta State’s Oliver Wilson. After finishing the first two rounds in second, Holmes slipped a little in the third and shot an 8-over par 78 on Sunday. The next best finisher for UK was freshman Matt Kohn who ended in a tie for 33rd with a three-round total of 225 (+15).
Augusta State won the tournament, finishing with a three-day total of 869 (+29). Tournament host Florida (872) finished second and defending champion LSU (902) finished 12th.
Kentucky is off until March 10 when it heads to Tallahassee, Fla., for the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Golden Eagle Country Club.
