The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each celebrated Senior Day with victories over the Cincinnati Bearcats at UK’s Lancaster Aquatics Center on Satuday, Feb. 8. The women (2-6, 0-4 SEC) handled UC 148-124, while the men (4-4, 1-3 SEC) cruised to a 155.5-98.5 victory.
The men claimed 14 of their 20 events. Leading the way was senior Roger Watkins who won the 100-breast (56.17) and 50-breast (26.10). Senior All-American diver Clayton Moss captured both the 1-meter (376-95) and 3-meter (359.46) diving competitions.
For the women, freshman Laura Graham and junior Jessica Siegele lead the way, each winning two events. Graham captured the 100-breast (1:04.90) and 50-breast (30.41), while Siegele prevailed in the 100-back (58.29) and 50-back (27.24). Senior diver Kelli Frost was victorious in the 1-meter (296.48) and 3-meter (306.60) events.
This was Kentucky’s final meet before heading to Auburn, Ala. for the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
