Bloomington, Ind. – The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each lost to Indiana at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center in Bloomington on Friday, Feb. 7. The men (3-4, 1-3 SEC) lost to the 25th-ranked IU men by a score 135-102, while the women (1-6, 0-4 SEC) fell the 18th-ranked Hoosier women, 139-96.
The highlights for the UK women were in the 200-back, 500-free, 200-breast and 400-free relay. Brennan Moore (2:04.23) and Jessi Siegele (2:04.42) claimed the top two spots in the 200-back. Amanda Bourgeois (5:02.86), Caitlin Muldoon (5:09.55), Cami Miller (5:10.94) and Jamie Saxe (5:18.59) swept the top four spots of the 500-free. In the 200-breast the Cats again claimed the top four spots with Laura Graham (2:18.65) leading the way. The UK 400-relay team of Bourgeois, Joanna McLean, Marci Vrooman and Kelly Hoffrage took first in their event with a time of 3:33.96.
For the men, senior All-American diver Clayton Moss captured the 1-meter spring board crown with a score of 357.00. Roger Watkins (2:00.35) won the 200-Breast, while Steven Manley (4:26.09) took first in the 500-free and 200-IM (1:50.47). Watkins also helped the UK 200-medley relay team to a win with a time of 1:30.04.
The UK men and women are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 8 when they host the Cincinnati Bearcats at 4 p.m. at the Lancaster Aquatics Center on the Kentucky Campus. In the two schools’ last meeting on Jan. 11, the women won 114-79, while the men cruised to a 113.50 to 81.50 victory.
