The 23nd-ranked University of Kentucky gymnastics team will travel to the O’Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla., on Friday, Jan. 24, to take part in a quad meet that includes No. 7 Florida, No. 17 Minnesota and Bowling Green at 7 p.m ET. Kentucky is coming off a split decision last weekend, where it defeated the Centenary Ladies but fell to Southeastern Conference-rival LSU.

The GymKats (2-1, 0-1 SEC) improved their team score by one-half point, but were unable to overcome a strong performance by the Lady Tigers. Junior All-American Aronda Primault and sophomore Michelle Gales led UK, finishing second and third in the all-around, respectively. Senior Melanie Zaharias had a strong showing on the vault, posting a 9.850 to take first place in the event.

The Florida Gators (4-2, 1-0 SEC) are coming off a victory over conference-foe Arkansas. The Gators began the season with a third place finish in the Super Six Challenge.

Minnesota (0-2) narrowly missed Arizona in its season-opener. Last week, the Golden Gophers again were defeated at Michigan. Bowling Green (1-0) began the 2003 campaign with a 192.85-192.375 victory over Western Michigan.

Live scoring of the meet is available at Florida’s official website

The Wildcats return home next weekend when they play host to Brigham Young on Friday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. ET for “Neon Nights” at Memorial Coliseum.
