Milwuakee, Wis. – Seniors Jill Buckley and Leigh Bradwell continued to roll through the Milwaukee Classic on Friday as they advanced to the championship match. The duo defeated high schoolers Caitlin Burke and Kaylan Caiati by a score of 8-5.

For Bradwell, the championship match at the Milwaukee Classic is familiar territory. In 2002, she and then doubles partner Lauren Rookledge, who graduated, brought the title home Kentucky. This tournament is the first time Buckley and Bradwell have competed as a duo this season.”This is a great compliment to both Leigh and Jill,” Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “For them to pair up for the first time and have a great chance to go out and win a championship says a lot about their concentration and hard work.”

The tandem will face the duo of Racquel Kopps-Jones and Liina Suurvarik. Kopps-Jones, from California, and Suuvarik, from Illinois State, are the top-seeded team in the women’s doubles draw. Buckley and Bradwell are seeded second. The two teams will face off on Saturday afternoon.
