Lexington, Ky. – University of Kentucky diver Clayton Moss has been named the Southeastern Conference swimming and diving Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 7, it has been announced by the SEC. Moss garnered the award after a strong performance at the Georgia Diving Invitational, held Jan. 3-5 in Athens, Ga. He won the one-meter springboard at the event with a score of 666.25 and finished second in the platform with a 542.75.
Moss, a senior from Doerun, Ga., was named All-American in one-meter and three-meter boards last season, as well as the platform. He became the first UK diver to ever achieve All-America status in all three boards in the same year. He also became the first Wildcat diver to ever win back-to-back SEC titles when he won the one-meter springboard for the second consecutive season at last year’s SEC Championships. He went on to a second place finish on the one-meter at the NCAA Championships. Moss was named the SEC Coaches’ and the Knoxville News -Sentinel “Male Diver of the Year” in 2002.
Moss and his teammates will be back in action on Sat., Jan. 11, when they travel to Erlanger, Ky., to face Cincinnati. The meet is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
