Lexington, Ky. –

The University of Kentucky swimming and diving teams will be in action Saturday, Dec. 7, as they play host to the Missouri Tigers. The meet will be held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center on the UK campus and admission is free.

The Cats last competed at the Nike Cup Invitational on Nov. 21-23 where the men finished in fourth-place and the women in sixth. Junior Joey Faltraco won two events at the meet. Faltraco holds the third-fastest time in the nation in the 400-yard IM, as well as the fourth-fastest times in both the 200 backstroke and the 200 butterfly. Sophomore Chrissy Miller shined for the women at the Nike Cup, as she took home a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle and won the “B” final of the 200 freestyle.

“We were pleased with the effort at the Nike Cup,” coach Gary Conelly said. “Across the board we competed well as a team and had several swimmers swim personal best times. That meet gave us some momentum for the rest of the season.”

The UK diving team was last in action at the Indiana Invitational where sophomore Mario Rodriguez finished third on the platform. Senior All-American Clayton Moss finished third on the three-meter springboard at the event while Jessica Thompson finished in third on the three-meter for the women.

Missouri comes in with the 21st ranked women’s team in the nation, according to www.collegeswimming.com. The women hold a 4-0 dual meet record this season and most recently finished second at the Minnesota Invitational. The MU men stand at 2-1 and finished fourth in the Minnesota Inviational.

“Missouri is an up-and-coming program that is really looking to make some noise around the nation,” head coach Gary Conelly said. They have good teams on both the men’s and women’s side and we’ll have to swim well in order to win.”
