The University of Kentucky rifle team evened its Great American Rifle Conference record to 1-1 with a 6145-6078 victory over the University of Mississippi on Saturday Nov. 9, at the Buell Amory on UK’s campus. Kentucky outshot the Rebels in both competitions with a 4593 – 4557 in smallbore and a 1552 – 1521 in air rifle.

Bradley Wheeldon and Vicki Goss took the top two honors with UM’s Megan Shandage in third-place with a combined score of 1538. Wheeldon tallied a 1567 with 1171 in smallbore and 396 in air rifle. Newcomer Vicki Goss posted a 1558 combined score with 394 in air rifle and 1164 in smallbore after an impressive 394 in prone position and a 393 in kneeling. Wheeldon and Goss came close to topping the school record of 398 in individual air rifle competition.

Also for UK, Meloldy Cook finished with a combined score of 1511. Crystal Hamilton tallied a 383 in air rifle, while Brad Donoho added 1126 in smallbore competition.

Kentucky will continue in action this weekend hosting Murray State on Sunday Nov. 10. The match will begin at 8 a.m. in the Buell Armory on the UK campus.
