Women's Soccer

Elizabeth Ramsey, a junior forward on the University of Kentucky women’s soccer team, was voted first-team All-Southeastern Conference, the league announced at its annual women’s soccer banquet in Oxford, Miss., Wednesday night. The honor was voted on by the 12 head soccer coaches and released prior to the SEC Tournament, which kicks off at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium on Thursday.

“This truly is a well-deserved award,” Coach Warren Lipka said. “Elizabeth (Ramsey) has fought back from two ACL injuries, and this is a testament to her hard work and dedication. She is an exciting and dynamic player, and it’s nice that her talent was recognized throughout the conference.”

The Wildcat tri-captain earned SEC Academic Honor Roll status in 2001 while missing the entire season rehabilitating an ACL injury. In 2000, Ramsey was voted UK’s Most Valuable Player and second-team All-SEC as she garnered nine goals and 10 assists for 28 points as a sophomore. Named to the SEC Tournament Team in 2000, the Hilliard, Ohio, native set the UK single-season assist mark in 1999 when she collected 11 helpers on the year.

Currently, Ramsey ranks fifth on UK’s all-time scoring list with 69 career points. She needs only two points to move into a fourth-place time with Carrie Staber who posted 71 from 1995-98.
