BATON ROUGE, La. — The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will not play its Southeastern Conference match originally scheduled for 2 p.m. ET at LSU Sunday due to inclement weather in Baton Rouge, the officiating crew announced this afternoon.
Heavy rain, a water-covered field and a forecast calling for continued thunderstorms with a 90 percent chance of rain were the factors in the decision to not play the seventh meeting in the series between the Wildcats (9-7-0/4-4-0 SEC) and the Fighting Tigers (10-4-2/2-3-2 SEC). UK owns an unblemished 6-0-0 record in the overall series with LSU, including a 3-0-0 mark against the Bayou Bengals in Baton Rouge.
Kentucky will finish regular season play this Friday, Nov. 1 when it plays host to No. 17 Michigan on Senior Night at the UK Soccer Complex. Seniors Keri Boyce (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone), Jami Fritter (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson), Christal Mattingly (Bardstown, Ky./Nelson County), and Courtney Pollock (Louisville, Ky./Assumption/Indiana) will play their final home game as a Wildcat.
Wildcat Senior Night festivities will begin at 7:15 p.m. ET with the match between the Cats and Wolverines to follow at 7:30 p.m. ET.
