The University of Kentucky swimming and diving teams dropped their second consecutive meet today, Friday Oct. 25, to the Tennessee Volunteers. The UK women were outscored by UT, 143-99, while the men were on the short end of a 124-109 tally.
Sophomore Chrissy Miller tried to keep the Kentucky women (0-2, 0-2 SEC) close by winning both the 100y and 200y-freestyle events. Freshmen Brennan Moore gave her second consecutive strong performance, finishing second in the 1,000y-freestyle and the 200y-backstroke. Shantel Commander, Laura Graham and Kendra Trahan made a clean sweep of the 200y-breaststroke, finishing first, second and third, respectively.
Freshman Jessica Thompson was the top diver for the women. She finished second in the three-meter board and third in the one-meter.
The UK men (0-2, 0-2 SEC) got off to a good start on the afternoon, as the 400y-medley relay team took a first-place finish. Freshman Steven Manley then won the 200y-freestyle and later went on to take first place in the 500y-freestyle. Junior Joey Faltraco won the 200y-backstroke and finished second in the 200y-IM. Daniel Cruz and Matt Nilson finished first and second, respectively, in the 200y-butterfly. The 400y-freestyle relay team also took top honors for the Cats on the afternoon.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 4, when they travel to Columbia, S.C., to take on conference foe South Carolina.
