The UK women’s tennis team enters the second week of the fall individual tournament season heading in near opposite directions. Three Cats will be heading south to Knoxville, Tenn., while four others trek west to Los Angeles, Calif.

Danielle Petrisko, Kacie Anson and Shannon Stough will travel to Knoxville to participate in the UT/St. Mary’s Classic being held Friday through Sunday.

“This is a very strong tournament,” Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “This is a great opportunity for three of our younger players to demonstrate their skills at a very high level and gain further experience, as well as get some top wins.”

Heading to Los Angeles for the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships will be Sarah Witten, Jill Buckley, Amy Trefethen and Nathalie Roels.

Buckley, Trefethen and Roels will begin play in the pre-qualifying round on Saturday at UCLA and Witten will begin on Tuesday in the qualifier. Their goal is to reach the elite field of 32 on Thursday, Oct. 10. All four will participate in the doubles qualifying round on Tuesday. Witten will pair with Roels and Buckley with Trefethen.

“I’m very happy to be sending four strong players to the All-American,” Guilbeau said. “This is the highest level and allows our players to make an impact at the national level. These four are very strong and prepared for great results over the next few days.”

The fall tennis season continues through Nov. 10.
