Sept. 26, 2002
Friday’s men’s soccer match between Kentucky and Bowling Green has been postponed because of weather. The contest, originally planned for 8 p.m. on Sept. 27, should be rescheduled, but a make-up date is yet to be announced.
The Wildcats (4-3-0) were set to open their conference schedule against Mid-American Conference rival Bowling Green (0-8-0). Kentucky was undefeated last year in MAC play, sweeping the regular season and the tournament en route to a second round NCAA appearance. The Cats have won their last 11 league games, dating back through the 2000 MAC Tournament.
This season, two Wildcats have earned MAC Player of the Week honors. Sophomore Jamal Shteiwi earned the honor on Sept. 9 for his play in the Furman Classic. Junior Nathan Fleetwood has been recognized twice — on Sept. 2, for his play at UVa when the Cats beat No. 10 Maryland, and again this past week, for his work in the UK Invitational.
Sunday’s match against IUPUI is scheduled to take place as planned. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at the UK Soccer Complex.
