THE COACHES: Keith Madison (Western Kentucky, 1975), now in his 24th year at UK, owns an overall record of 710-594-5 (.544). Clinching his 250th SEC win at Auburn on March 15, Madison is 252-356-3 (.415) in league play. Norm DeBriyn (Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 1963) is 1,150-641-6 in his 33rd year at the helm of the Razorbacks. He ranked 10th in wins among active Division-I coaches entering 2002.
THE SERIES: Kentucky and Arkansas have battled 28 times since their inaugural meeting in 1989 with the Razorbacks owning an 11-17 series lead. Though UK has claimed victory in the past two series-openers, the Hogs have won eight of the past 10 meetings. The teams first met in Lakeland, Fla., in 1989 and split in two games.
STREAKS: Sophomore infielder Spencer Graeter is riding the crest of a six-game hit streak into Hog Country, going 9-for-22 (.409) in that span. Senior catcher Spencer Preston has hit safely in his past contests after recording hits in only seven of his first 28 games played this season.
