“It is my pleasure to be here to help dedicate this facility and honor the man it is named after.

“This is a great facility and we’re already starting to see the benefits of it. It is saving loads of time. Before, we had to run back and forth between the offices (at Commonwealth) and here (Nutter Training Facility). The time we’re saving by moving the offices we can devote to the athletes.

“The modern technology we’re using here is unbelievable. We’re way past the days of using 16MM film. It’s common to pass a coach in the hall who will have a laptop under one arm and a football under the other.”

“We realize how important it is to have good facilities when we are recruiting. When we bring families in here their jaws hit the floor.

“It’s the philosophy of the football program to build character in our student-athletes. We’re the teachers and they’re the students. But we don’t teach one specific subject. We feel like these are our classrooms. It used to be that we hardly saw the student-athletes. They wouldn’t cross Cooper Drive to the offices. But now we see them every day. That’s the most important value – that we see the kids more and more.”

“It’s an honor for me to be here. I love the state and love the university. It’s good to be able to give back to the university that has provided all of us with so much. I want to give a special thanks to Coach (C.M.) Newton, Coach (Alvis) Johnson and Kathy DeBoer for helping with all the details of getting this all set up.”
