The University of Kentucky baseball team will look to snap a five-game losing streak tonight when it hits the road to battle the defending SEC Champion Georgia Bulldogs at Foley Field. UK coach Keith Madison will hand to ball to Joseph Blanton (3-4, 4.12 ERA) in tonight’s 6:30 p.m. ET start.
The Wildcats (14-22, 3-12 SEC) lost last year’s series to the Bulldogs (20-14, 8-7 SEC), 2-1, but have taken three of the last four series from Georgia and have not lost a series in Athens since 1994.
Dave Perno, in his first season at the helm of the Bulldogs, will start freshman left-hander Mickey Westphal (3-1, 6.97) as Georgia tries to break a three-game SEC losing streak after being swept last weekend at LSU. Saturday’s 4:00 p.m. ET start will feature UK’s Scott Wade (3-7, 6.55) against Georgia’s Brandon Moorehead (2-1, 4.19), and Sunday’s 2:00 p.m. battle will match the Wildcats’ Corey Hahn (3-5, 4.70) and the Bulldogs’ Bill Sharpton (4-3, 5.47).
Saturday’s game can be seen in Lexington on Fox Sports Net South (Insight Channel 52). All three games can be heard in Lexington on WLXO 96.1 FM, and on the Internet at UKAthletics.com with Drew Deener on the call.
