LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former University of Kentucky letterwinner and All-Southeastern Conference outside hitter Katie Eiserman has been hired as an assistant coach for the volleyball program, Coach Jona Braden announced on Wednesday. Eiserman will begin her second stint on the UK coaching staff after serving as a student assistant coach during the 2000 season.

Eiserman, a native of Lake Bluff, Ill., will handle day-to-day coaching responsibilities as well as organize team travel, assist in recruiting efforts and serve as the team’s liaison with the academic support team. She will also serve as camp coordinator for the program.

She enjoyed a highly successful four-year career at UK, which culminated in second-team All-SEC honors during her senior season in 1999. She is the school’s all-time digs leader with 1,194 and also ranks third in career attack attempts (3,876) and fourth in career kills (1,358).

After completing her coaching season with the squad in December 2000, she accepted a graduate assistant position in athletics administration. In that role, Eiserman assisted with UK’s Blue/White Fund along with various other roles while working toward her master’s degree. She also coached the volleyball squad at Tates Creek High School in Lexington during the 2001 season.

“Katie has such a natural gift for coaching and teaching,” Braden said. “We feel fortunate to have her join us, not only because of her decorated athletic career, but because she will enhance what we do daily with our student-athletes.

“Her desire is to learn and grow and her passion for UK volleyball is amazing,” Braden continued. “Katie will be an amazing asset to the coaching profession.”

Eiserman, 23, will begin her duties with the team immediately. She replaces Reita Clanton, who vacated her role in December.
