Athens, Ga. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team currently stands in 18th-place after its opening round 331 on Friday, Mar. 22 at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga.

Senior Towa Okiyama boasted an impressive day by firing a 74 that landed her in sixth place. Okiyama’s opening-round, 2-over par performance led the Lady Kats. Other UK scorers included Rachel Lester at 10-over par, Eva Gessner at 14-over par and Kelly Anders and Lauren George both at 17-over par.

The Lady Kats will look to climb in the team competition on Saturday, Mar. 23 when the second round of the Murphey Collegiate Classic will begin at 9 a.m.
