The first baseball game in Kentucky’s new $4.2 million Cliff Hagan Stadium has been canceled, Coach Keith Madison announced this morning. UK’s game with Tennessee Tech on Tuesday, March 19 has been called due to heavy rain in the Bluegrass.

The cancelation of Tuesday’s game will make this Friday’s home Southeastern Conference opener against Mississippi State the inaugural game in the Wildcats’ state-of-the-art stadium. Commemorative Louisville Slugger bats will be handed out to the first 250 fans in attendance recognizing the first game in the Cats’ new lair.

The Wildcats and Bulldogs will play a three-game series this weekend. Friday’s opener has a first-pitch time of 3 p.m., Saturday’s game will be played at 2 p.m. and Sunday’s finale will start at 1:30 p.m. All three games between UK and MSU can be heard on 96.1 FM WLXO with Drew Deener of WKYT’s Sports Spectrum and AM 1300’s Cross and Deener on Sports with the call.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children and senior citizens. UK students are encouraged to come out and root on the Cats this weekend. Admission is free to students with a valid ID.
