LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky softball team will compete in its’ third consecutive tournament this weekend, travelling to Chattanooga, Tenn., Feb. 22-24, for the Tennessee-Chattanooga Choo Choo Tournament.
The Wildcats are 5-6 after finishing the Fast Pitch Express College Classic 3-3. Senior Beth Fogle leads the Cats with a .500 batting average (11-for-22) while senior Jennifer Howland leads the pitching corps with a 1.45 ERA (19.1 IP, four earned runs).
This will be the fourth consecutive year that UK will be travelling to the Choo Choo Tournament. During the 2000 season, UK went 3-1 at the tournament, falling to the host Lady Mocs for UK’s only loss.
UK will open play Friday with games versus Birmingham Southern (3-8) and Evansville (4-4).
