LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky track and field teams return to indoor action on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8 when they travel to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Classic. More than 50 teams will compete in the meet, which is held at the Lied Recreation Center.
The two-day event begins with field event competition at 3:30 Friday afternoon, concluding Friday’s activities at 6:30 p.m. with the men’s 200-meter dash. Saturday’s competition begins at 10:00 a.m. with the men’s 3,000-meter run and more field events, concluding the Classic at 6:40 p.m. with the men’s 4×400-meter relay.
The Wildcats will look to several athletes for leadership in the meet, including football crossover athlete Ernest Simms, who won both the 60- and 200-meter runs last weekend. Sophomore Jeff Chakouian has already qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in shot put and will lead three athletes in the event this weekend.
