The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team advanced to the finals of the Minnesota Court Classic with a 7-0 victory over host and 75th-ranked Minnesota in Minneapolis on Friday, Jan. 25.
The Wildcats picked up their fifth consecutive win to stay unbeaten and improve to 5-0 on the season. UK failed to drop a set in the match winning all six singles matches and each of the three doubles matches as they overpowered the Golden Gophers.
“We played extremely sharp today,” Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “We are playing to our potential right now and we are happy to have an opportunity to advance and face a team like Duke. Duke is a great team and will allow us to play some challenging tennis early in the season.”
The Cats will now face the difficult task of taking on the third-ranked Duke Blue Devils in the final match on Saturday, Jan. 26. The match is set for 4 p.m.
