LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky volleyball coach Jona Braden announced the signing of middle blocker Danielle Wallace to a national letter of intent on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Wallace is the first recruit in the 2002 class and will enter UK in August.

Wallace, a native of Point Charlotte, Fla., has enjoyed a successful high school career at both Charlotte High School and Out of Door Academy. She transferred from Charlotte, where she was part of a district championship squad, following her sophomore season. At Out of Door, Wallace helped her team capture the district title in 2000 and a second-place finish this season. She was named MVP of her team both seasons and was an AAU All-American for the 17-under division in 2000.

Wallace was named Most Valuable Player of her club team in 2000 and received the Varsity Sophomore Award in 1999. She was named to the Herald-Tribune All-County team following her junior season. She also was selected to Team Florida, a squad of 12 top players from around the state.

“Danielle will add to our depth and strength in the outside hitter position,” Coach Jona Braden said. “She continues to mature into a very solid six-rotation player. Her competitive mindset, leadership and sheer winning determination will catapult this program forward.

“I am really looking forward to having the opportunity to work with such a well-rounded student-athlete,” Braden continued.

An accomplished athlete and student, she also plays basketball, softball and runs track. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Wallace plans to major in pre-pharmacy.
