LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky sophomore Joey Faltraco has been named the CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer of the Week following his record-setting weekend at the Nike Cup. UK records indicate that Faltraco is the first Wildcat swimmer to receive such an honor.

The Union Mills, N.C., native set three UK records over the weekend, touching the wall in 1:45.68 in the 200 backstroke and 3:54.10 in the 400 IM, both NCAA “B??? cut times. His time of 50.13 in the 100 backstroke also is a UK record.

Faltraco, whose 200 backstroke time is the fastest recorded in the country this season, is still over a second off of his career best in the event (1:44.66).

He is in his first season with the Wildcats after transferring this summer from South Carolina. He was selected for the national award from two-dozen nominees by a panel of coaches.
