– The University of Kentucky rifle team opened the 2001-02 campaign with a strong 6127-6108 win over Army on Saturday, Oct. 13, in West Point, N.Y.

The Cats posted a score of 4592 in the smallbore competition, while tallying a 1535 in air rifle. Sophomore Bradley Wheeldon led the Wildcats with a combined score of 1530, while fellow sophomore James Nash finished for a combined score of 1529.Wheeldon edged out Nash in smallbore competition 1152-1147, but Nash outscored Wheeldon 382-378 in air rifle competition. Newcomer Aaron Shader was shortly behind with a combined 1525 score.

Sophomore Lindsey Meagher led the way in the standing portion of the smallbore competition with a 383 out of 400 and a total 1159. In air rifle competition, Shader came out on top with a score of 391.

The Wildcats return to action on Sunday, Oct.28, in Columbus, Ohio for a dual match against Ohio State and Tennessee Tech.
