Lauren Rookledge, a senior on the University of Kentucky women’s tennis team, swept the Gator Fall Classic with a win in both the singles and doubles final on Sunday, Oct. 14.
Rookledge, a Cape Town, South Africa native, first won the singles title after battling back from a first set loss to defeat Mari Toro of Miami 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. In a later match, Rookledge teamed up with partner Leigh Bradwell to also claim the doubles championship. The duo knocked off Julie Pecastaing and Anna Westin of Central Florida 8-3. The title is the second for the tandem this year, the pair also walked away with the Flight 2 honors at the University of Tennessee Fall Classic.
The women’s tennis team will be back in action on Oct. 19-21, when they are slated to compete at the Vanderbilt Fall Tournament in Nashville, Tenn.
