The University of Kentucky women’s golf team finished in ninth place at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Sunday, Oct. 7. The Lady Kats used an impressive opening round to make a strong showing in the highly-competitive tournament.
Junior Rachel Lester led UK with her three-round total of 228. The Fayetteville, Ga., native’s score was good enough to land her in 11th place. Fellow junior Kelly Anders finished the tournament in 27th place with her 234.
Host North Carolina came back from an eight-stroke deficit to defeat Duke and take the tournament title. Duke’s Kristina Engstrom took medalist honors with a three-day score of 219.
The Lady Kats will be back in action on Oct. 25-28, when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete in the Alabama Capstone Intercollegiate.
