Blue & White Results
Lexington, Ky. –
In what was termed a spirited event by UK Coach Gary Conelly, the Blue team defeated the White team 2:05.48 to 2:07.08 in the annual Blue & White Scrimmage held Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Lancaster Aquatic Center on the University of Kentucky campus.
The captains for the Blue team were senior Tracy Sullivan and junior Roger Watkins while seniors Sarah Hoppe and David Kuendig led the White team.
The format for the scrimmage was to divide the team in half and have each of the swimmers compete in three out of five possible strokes and three out of five distances. The events were the 50, 100, 150 and 200 butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and the 75 individual medley. Due to the large number of swimmers on the team this year, the score was determined by totaling up the times for each swimmer on each team.
The Wildcats will kick off their regular season in Gainesville, Fla., on Oct. 12 in the SEC East Extravaganza.
