The University of Kentucky men’s tennis doubles team of Johan Grunditz and Jesse Witten defaulted its match against Paco Antelo and Martin Wetzel of South Florida in the quarterfinals of the Southern Collegiate Championships on Sunday, Sept. 23 in Athens, Ga.

Grunditz and Witten qualified for the quarterfinals on Saturday, Sept. 22 with a third round victory over Mississippi State’s Luiz Carvalho and Jerome LeBelicard, 8-2. Teammates Rahim Esmail and Gustav Pousette were eliminated in the third round with a heartbreaking 8-6 loss to Mark Dietrich and Simon Rea of Tennessee.

The Wildcats will continue their fall schedule Oct. 4-9 at the All-American Pre-Qualifiers in Stone Mountain, Ga.
