Wildcat Madness – 144 Wildcat sculptures which have been enhanced by artists from around the region – will make its debut this weekend at the Nutter Field House adjacent to Commonwealth Stadium.
The fundraising campaign, which is a take off the popular Horse Mania project held in Lexington last year, is an area arts project sponsored by the University of Kentucky Basketball Museum. Sponsors each paid $2,500 to have a Cat decorated with a unique design from regional artists. Following this weekend’s unveiling, the Wildcats will be on display across the state through next March. Each Cat then will be available for purchase through an auction next spring.
The grand debut will take place at the Nutter Field House on Friday (5-10 p.m.), before and after the Kentucky-Louisville football game on Saturday (9 a.m. noon, 4-7 p.m.), Sunday (1-5 p.m.) and Monday (1-5 p.m.).
Admission is $2 per person.
