STOKE ON TRENT, England – University of Kentucky sophomore-to-be Jeff Chakouian claimed the shot put title at the USA-Great Britain Juniors Dual Meet in Stoke on Trent, England, on Saturday, August 18. Team USA overcame host Great Britain by a total of 201-176.

Chakouian’s throw of 63-0.25 was a Northwood Stadium record toss. In his freshman campaign at UK, the Seekonk, Ma., native advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships before claiming two titles at the USA Track & Field Junior Nationals in June.

Following this dual meet, 19 of these athletes, national champions from selected events, will continue onto Edinburgh, Scotland for a second competition, the Edinburgh International Games, with junior athletes from Scotland, Wales and Ireland. That event is scheduled for Saturday, August 26.
