WALNUT, Calif. — Jeff Chakouian added over four feet to his season best in the shot put to break the University of Kentucky freshman and varsity outdoor records at the Mt. SAC Relays, on Sunday, April 22. His throw of 64-11.50 gives him all four UK shot put records and automatically qualifies him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in May.In the men’s 1,500 meters, three Cats had career days as they each ran a personal-best time. Sophomore Hunter Spencer led the way with a career mark of 3:46.51, shaving over 3.5 seconds off his previous top time, while sophomore Thomas Morgan and freshman Justin Amason also notched personal best. Sophomore Jack Morgan ran a season-best time of 3:50.75.

The women were paced by freshman Beth Heimann, who tallied a personal best in the 800 meters by crossing the line in 2:10.36, while fellow freshman Caity Phillips trimmed 1.5 five seconds off her previous best in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:27.76.

Also performing well for UK were freshman Molly Lonergan with an eighth-place finish in the discus throw (161-00.00), senior Shevan Threats with a fourth-place finish in the invitational section of the long jump (19-08.25), and sophomore Simidele Adeagbo with a ninth-place finish in the invitational section of the triple jump (39-11.25) and a sixth-place finish in the open section of the long jump (19-00.75).

The Cats return to action when they travel to the City of Brotherly Love for the Penn Relays on April 26-28, in Philadelphia, Pa. All action takes place at the Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
