Women's Golf

The University of Kentucky women’s golf team struggled in the opening round of the 2001 Southeastern Conference Championships in Gainesville, Fla., on Friday, April 20. The Kats shot a 323 in the first round and stand in last place entering Saturday’s second round.

Leading the way for Kentucky was sophomore Kelly Anders, who shot a 76 in the first round and is tied for 25th. Sophomore Rachel Lester shot a 79 to tie for 44th, while junior Towa Okiyama stands at 49th with an 81. Freshman Eva Gessner shot an 87, while senior Jenny Throgmorton tallied an 88 and stands in last place.

Action continues tomorrow with an 8 a.m. shotgun start at the University of Florida Golf Course.
