Three 2000 All-State selections signed a national letter of intent with the University of Kentucky men’s golf team, coachSteve Smitha announced today, April 18. Mark Blakefield, John Holmes and Jack Hudson, three of the Commonwealth’s topplayers, were all heavily recruited, but opted to join the Wildcats in the fall.

Blakefield, a Maysville, Ky., native, attends Saint Patrick’s High School. In 1999,he was named Mr. Kentucky Golf and was an All-State selection as a junior andsenior.

Holmes attends Taylor County High School in Campbellsville, Ky. The 1998 Kentucky State Champion was named Mr.Kentucky Golf the same year and also secured All-State honors in 1998 and 2000.Hudson, from Greensburg, Ky., attends Green County High School. As a senior last fall, he was a regional champion andwas named an All-State performer.

“I am proud that all three of our recruits are from Kentucky,” Smitha said. “All have competed on the regional and thenational level. They are three very intelligent kids and will be an asset to the golf program as well as the University ofKentucky.”
