The University of Kentucky softball coach Beth Kirchner announced that Golden, Colo., product Meghan Cooper signed to play for the Wildcats in 2002. The Golden High School utility player was named All-Colorado, All-5A, as well as first-team All-Conference in track three consecutive years. She has driven in 18 RBI and has a batting average of .459 this season, adding to those a home run. She continued to put up strong performances on her summer team, the Colorado Sweet Cleats, including racking up a batting average of .458.
Her high school coach, Tom Peterson was very complimentary of her, emphasizing her ability to cover multiple positions.
Meghan can play everywhere, Peterson said. She probably could have been an All-State shortstop, but unfortunately for her, we needed her to pitch almost every game for us.
