After two consecutive weekends on the road, the University of Kentucky baseball team returns home to play host to Vanderbilt University in a three-game, SoutheasternConference series starting Friday, April 13, at 6 p.m., at Cliff Hagan Stadium on UKscampus.
This weekends series could play a large part in determining the field for the upcomingSEC Tournament. UK enters Fridays game with an overall record of 15-21, 3-12 inSEC play. The Cats split two non-conference contests with Louisville and Miami (Ohio)earlier in the week.
UK junior Vince Harrison will look to repeat the incredible performance he delivered lastseason against the Commodores when he batted .571 (8-for-14) with two home runs,five RBI, six runs scored, a double and a triple.
Caleb Brock currently leads the Wildcat hitters with a .339 batting average. Five otherUK players also are batting better than .300. Seth Morris 10 home runs are the mostamong the Wildcats.
VU carries a record of 17-19 into the series. The Commodores are currently two gamesahead of the Cats in the SEC Eastern Division standings with a 5-10 conference mark.Sean Luellwitzs .376 batting average and five home runs lead the Commodoressquad.
Kentucky leads the all-time series, which dates back to 1905, 123-113-5. The Catsswept the Commodores last season in Nashville with game scores of 9-5, 7-3 and 11-1.
Scott Wade is the scheduled starter for the Wildcats on Friday. Despite his 2-6 overallrecord, Wade has emerged as one of the top pitchers in the conference with a 3.05ERA.
Both Saturdays and Sundays games will get begin at 2 p.m. EST.
